Outside of Portland, OR. If anybody is actually nearby and willing to help this bozo out, I'll provide beverages or other refreshment of your choice!

I borrowed a compression and leakdown tester from a friend. Never used them before but here's my interpretation

Both performed cold
Compression test - Used starter to turn engine over. Gauge on the tester spikes to maybe 60-90psi while its turning but does not hold any pressure whatsoever
Leakdown test - Single-gauge type tester. Set crank to TDC. Connect air supply to tester and dial regulator so the gauge reads zero (goes from 100% to 0 clockwise). Connect tester to cylinder (spark plug hole) and gauge should go down as little as possible. Instead, gauge immediately goes to 100%. I'm pretty sure i can hear a very light hiss coming from the engine. hard to isolate, not totally sure that its not the tester

I disconnected the adapter hose from the spark hole a few times to be sure it was seated well.

So i'm pretty sure this means i have no compression? and i mean NO compression. but if thats true im surprised i was able to get the bike to start at all?

Ah, so after a few more sips of beer i went out to take a look again and make sure the valves were actually closed. turns out i did the leakdown test while the cams had the lobes on the INSIDE, even though the crank said TDC. questionable clearance on the valves. So i turned the crank over once again so the lobes were pointing out, and got more sensible clearance numbers.

did the leakdown test again, and it settles at about 85%

so i think its time to take the head off.....

Is the KACR having any influence on these results of your testing? Is your KACR still operational?

I'm not sure how to tell. My assumption was that the KACR is out of play if the engine stays at TDC during the leakdown test

Ah so the compression tester that I have is broken (rather there isnt a check valve in the adapter hose that dude gave me). I did the leakdown test again and got the same result, I put eyeballs on the exhaust valve and verified that the KACR is not contacting the bucket

I never used a leak down tester, it goes down to 85% in how long.... if it is one minute, it doesn't sound like a problem is there.
The compression sounds low, but if the KACR is active, that is going to be difficult to figure out. I think you can disable it or something, do a forum search. I think a few guys have their's wired off.

Nah, it means that 85% of the air being pumped into the cylinder is leaking out
here's a vid with the tester im using. skip to 3:55:

Just checked again and think i heard air coming thru the exhaust and definitely heard air in the crankcase....

If you performed the leak down test properly, it sounds like you do have an issue. The compression test, however, is definitely affected if the KACR is in place. Mine yields about 70-75 psi...depending on engine temp...with the KACR kicking in.
