I got a cam chain sitting in front of me waiting for a friend to collect.

The number on the left label is for a genuine Japanese made D-Tracker cam chain! Btw they cost 980Bart here....about 30 BUCKS. Would be interested to know what Kawasaki USA charge?

easy for you to find out....just go an on line kaw parts dealer and look it up. carlscycle.com is my local dealer. you'll find a little less expensive at other places.

the Honda part # is borg-warner, which is unusual as you'd thing they'd source from DID ? same with my crf I just rebuilt B-W oem part.

Then put in a manual tensioner. There is no good reason for a HyVo chain to wear out in less than 100,000 miles given good adjustment on play. Currently my 650 has over 30,000 miles on the cam chains (has a top and bottom) with minimal adjustment after the first 10,000 miles. The originals wore out in less than 15,000 miles due to two failed tensioners and my buying into the "all Kaw engines are noisy" kool aid. There are Concours and others out there with over 100,000 and the original HyVo cam chain. Pretty sure it is the same width and pitch as that on the KLXs.

Sure I sell the manual tensioners, but the fact is this is one area I have learned a lot about from riders and personal experience. Many here will tell you the same thing. I didn't just decide one day to make them for the 250s and con people into buying them, I was contacted by and got with a rider here to do them because there was a need. Worn out cam chains are evidence of a need.
