Default call from the dealer

was at the dealer yesterday, and i decided to let them check my valves since my tank was off to inspect the recall that was done to my tank.

valves in spec lovely
they out in about 200ml oil as some came out during valve inspection no biggie

and today after 60 miles the dealer gave me a call telling me to dump my oil since the tech used 2 stroke oil to top off by mistake.
since i now no longer trust the dealer and tech. i need to asses the possible damage
oil has been changed and it runs fine (ears now paranoid lol)
should i be worried about any damage to the engine

Good reason to wrench on your bike. Besides using the wrong oil, I don't see how 200cc of oil could have spilled/leaked when checking valve clearance.
And don't stay up at night worrying, 2 stroke oil is also a good lubricant.

Ride on

some came out when the bike was on kickstand and he had to crank to TDC so it came out when he took off the timing inspection cap (do not know why he did not use a lift)

normally i want to wrench my self but this time i thought why not since it would only take him 30 mins extra and they offered it cheap

lesson learned always have tec show parts containers after work has been done (even oil)

Change your oil.
Worry about it no longer.

A tech?...that guy's not a tech. When I worked part time at a shop for 15 years to pay for my bad habits we were called mechanics. Is this "tech" thing something like an "administrative assistant"?

LOL, yes, I'm old school to I guess. We were called mechanics. Well, then again, I went to motorcycle mechanics school, and was certified. I never heard the term "Tech" in my 30 plus years working in dealerships. But It's been a while now since I retired from it though. Who knows what they call them now. Seems like everyone wants to have a "Title" now a days. Sounds like that guy should be titled Sh_t Head......LOL

I'd just change the oil and don't worry about it. Maybe go back to dealership, and have that "Mistake" written and signed on your work order. This way it's documented in writting so You have piece of mind at least, just incase. Nothing should happen though. "IF" anything, maybe clutch slippage, but you would have felt that. Your ok.

Depending on type (injector or premix) 2 cycle oil is 20w to 40w. It is nothing more then low ash oil. In fact back before my time outboard 2 stroke engines used straight 30w engine oil in the fuel as premix.

Your fine. No need to worry.

Oh and as far as the whole mechanic/tech thing ya they call us Techs now. Lol

Nowadays I fix more cars with a scan tool or a reflash then with a wrench.
