bye klx :^(
havent been riding it for the last few months because i get off work at midnite and i kinda live in the sticks and i almost hit a dog at about 60. So my parents said if i sell it they would co-sign for me on a newer car. well never got a new car so i decided to just get a nice dirtbike and get rid of the gutless but fun klx.
The dealer had a 08' CRF250R brand new for $3999. msrp was $6499. So my parents said if i sell the klx (because they know im tempted to ride it) they would co-sign for me. i love my klx but i have had it for over 3 years and put 17,024 miles on it. I'd say i got my moneys worth. Dealer wanted to give me $1000. on trade-in.. ya no thanks I'll sell it myself lol

Sorry to see you go, but enjoy the Honda. You've put a lot of miles on her, and I agree, got your money's worth.
Ride safe on the Honda.
I was about 14 with my cousin in his Vega when he hit a German Shepard at about 40. Big damage. After seeing the turkey hit posted recently, that dog would have been very bad on a motorcycle. Worse thing was the dog was his insurance agent's

yeah hitting stuff on bikes is no fun. i hit a black lab on my ninja doing about 75 back in 03. Pretty much cut the poor thing in half. When the front wheel touched back down i had the scaryiest tank slapper going on. I thought for sure i was going down but then all of a sudden the bike smoothed right out and kept rolling on down the road like nothing happend.
I would not recommend it.
When I got out of the hospital after my wreck this past fall; my mother was flipping out and trying to convince me to sell my bike... I explained to her that I wasn't sure if there was anyone big enough on earth to pry my bike from my cold dead hands. Later that night I was drinking a few beers with my dad in the garage when I asked him what he thought of the situation...
He said: Derek the day I went to get that damn bike for you I was both happy and sad. On one hand I knew it would give you the freedom a bike has, on the other hand I knew you were going to do something stupid like I had done many a times as a kid on my bikes... "accidents are a part of riding, and they come with the territory" welcome to the club.
Made me think a lot about how every time I get on two wheels its kinda a game of luck...
I never really took it that serious because I had always wrecked in the dirt up until that point, and walked away relatively unhurt. Roadrash was a new concept for me lol. (by the way city water is about the equivalent of dragon fire on that stuff!!!)
GL with ur new ride.

ya i actually lost a real good friend of mine from high school in october 7, 2009. I use to hangout with him a little bit on lunch breaks at school my sophmore year. But he graduated and we didnt talk much after that, just here and there on myspace.
Then i found out that we both had 09 klx 250s. so we went on a ride and we had alot of fun both of us still learning the ropes. then a year later in 2009 we did a couple more rides, he came to my house and rode a bit with me and my other friend cody. i helped him jet his carb and put on his exhaust.
Then 1 week later i left for work like always at about 7:30am on my bike. At about 8:30 my mom called me crying because somebody had crashed and got seriously hurt a mile or so down the rode. well it was a green bike and they thought it was me. I was aboviously ok, didnt think much of it. then i got home and my dad had this look on his face, and he said it was nick and he had ran into the back of a van at 55+ mph. My dad cried it didnt really hit me until a day or 2 later. It was devastating.
i had been to his house one time to help with his bike but had never met his family. So i went over there and introduced myself and we just talked for a while. it was so sad to see his family such a wreck. and i thought wow this would be my parents if it was me that died. just thought i would share my story. Here's a couple of pictures from his celebration of life. and on a ride we did.
