Default Broke for New Year's

I ordered several items from Motorcycle Superstore because they seemed to have the best deals I could find on the internet. Now I am broke for New Years, not because I spent to much, but because they charged me to much. They charged the amount to my card as a hold, then charged me as the items shipped, which was today. So now double the amount will still be held through the weekend and probably not go back to normal until Tuesday. I have to point the blame at someone or something and I choose to point it at Motorcycle Superstore. So, for my future purchases what places do you suggest I purchase from? I have temporarily or perhaps permanently banned myself from the before mentioned store. Just to let you know how much we are talking about, I spent almost $450, so almost $900 is missing from the account. Ouch.

Ouch, that hurts.
I'm one of the lucky few who's local independent dirt bike shop offers pieces and parts for at or below what I can generally find on-line. And if it doesn't work, they take care of the shipping. They ordered a helmet for me, I didn't like it, so they put it on their shelf to sell and I ordered something different. If you have a local shop, ask what they'd charge. This is one of those small hole-in-the-wall type shops. No stealership prices.
I've ordered from Motorcycle Superstore and didn't have problems. Also ordered from Rocky Mountain ATV, Atomic Moto (good prices on gear), Cheap Cycle Parts, and some other places for special items (seat, tank, rad guards).

I do have a local shop I just purchased pro taper CI HIgh handlebars from and they were cheaper than any place I found. I can see my self purchasing from motorcycle superstore in the future, I am just bitter over something that was probably no fault of there own. My next purchase won't be until tax time, and I think that is when I will get a big bore.

I ordered from Motorcycle Superstore........about $700 worth and they never did that to me.
That is the problem with a debit card though........
Completely legal, but a lame business practice nonetheless. Hotels are big at doing this.

I'd call them and voice your displeasure at their practices.

I would hope Moto Superstore will make it right for you. I've always had good luck with them. Even the best places will screw up sometimes. The place I get my Rover parts from sent me the wrong valve seals last week, and I've been a regular customer with them for the past 10 years. They were good to send me out the correct ones after I called them. Anybody can sell stuff; the real test for me is how a business handles their mistakes....

Your issues haven't happened to me, but I will tell you I always shop my local shop after I know what my on-line costs might be. I do enough business with them that they will even order the stuff without a deposit. I have probably bought about a grand worth of gaskets for my sideline business.

I don't buy everything there, but a lot of it does, because they can usually be competitive and if I have any problem with the item they can take care of it quickly. When I bought a non-stock helmet I gave them the on-line price and asked if they could come close to a match and if they would deal with it if the size was wrong since we weren't sure. They could and they would. I paid virtually the same price, no shipping.

But I'm now pricing some tires and they aren't competitive so it is likely I may buy on-line, but I will put the offer back under their noses before doing so and let them know it.

I don't know what i would do if i had a credit card that maxed out at $900 in credit.
I buy everything on credit and then pay it at the end of the month in full.
Gets me those MILES baby!!!!!
Rarely do i have cash in my pocket, just the plastic.

I almost guarantee that Andy was using his debit card, and not a credit card. buerkletucson Is right , it is a crappy practice , and many hotels do it. It is because the card is only good for the money in the account at the time of purchase. The hold is only to insure that the money is still there when they ship out your parts. They should accept your order and if you still have the funds when they are ready to ship charge you then. They are just insuring their sale. They are making sure the $700 you had in the checkbook when you ordered didn't get spent on groceries in the few days they take to gather your order Still crappy of them, call and complain for sure, don't take it out on the guy on the phone , just tell them you don't like it.

Yeah it was a debit card. I did complain, but I didn't get vulgar. It stunk because it was a four day break essentially before the extra hold was lifted do to the holiday weekend. I complained to my bank as well. It is all said and done with now though.
