Default Bringing back the shine

well after getting run over on my bicycle i now have some extra time to bring some shine back to my bike.
currently i am polishing the fairings and covers, and they are slowly getting more shiny.

my current problem is the black parts like on the tail that have these white pigments that will not go away.
does anyone here know a way to give them a refresh?

I watched a kid on you tube doing bike restoration. He used a mapp gas torch to get a white flex mark to turn back to blue on some fenders and did the same to a kx airbox that had faded and returned it to a consistent black.
A pic might help to get someone who has experience fixing/restoring get you on the right track.

Yeah but will it be as shinny as this? LOL That was with 14,000 miles on it. And yes I take it off road all the time.

Hahahahahahaha Classic man!!!

Actually I've been riding a bit more and the problem is I never take pictures anymore. Remember when I had a ride report almost every week? Now I'm fat, old and lazy....well the only thing that's really changed from a few years ago is I'm old. I was always fat and lazy. LOL

mine is never gonna be THAT shiny again, before i got it the former owners raced it through gravel pits and forest rallies.
the plan is to get it looking better without removing to much of the character and history.
