Hi again guys. As some of you may have read, I've had a few issues with my brakes that I finally tracked down to a failing MC. https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...e2/#post518099

So I took this as an opportunity to upgrade the MC and after some reading I decided for a 2014 CRF250R MC. Same as any 2007+ CRF250R. A lot of good feedback on forums and here is a summary of the benefits.

There are probably a lot of MCs that are good, this is just one option that I also chose because it is 11mm piston bore same as stock. I thought about getting a larger bore (bigger is better right? jaja) but after more reading I found that's not always the case for MCs. I found a lot of formulas for calculating the braking leverage but finally found a excel calculator that does the work for you and has fields for all the measurements that influence the leverage. You can see my calculations for stock and the new MC. From What I read the optimum number you want is 120 thru 150.

I also got a galfer ss brake line, DP Pro-MX pads, bajadesigns banjo bolt brake switch and mirror clamps for the bars.




I just got it installed Monday and it's been raining so I haven't been able to properly test it. It definitely feels better on first impression. More feel, more control, less travel for the same braking. Take this with a grain of salt as I had been using the faulty MC for almost a year and I have a donut for a front tire. I'll have a better review in a few days.

It's actually a good thing you didn't do a bigger piston. It would reduce the hydraulic leverage. That means it would reduce lever travel, but increase effort to get equal braking.

I played with brakes when doing all three calipers to a hand brake lever for a disabled rider. I also did some research for my own bikes when wanting to do 4 piston calipers on my Zephyr.

Nice set up there.

Got some sun today. Brakes feel real good, very progressive but very effective. Effort is the same as before but travel is less for same braking effect. Pads like to warm up with a couple of medium stops before they grip real good. The 1" dead spot at the beginning of the squeeze is gone, I imagine due to the SS brake line. Initial bite is less than stock pads. I need more riding to test the fading.

Remember, this is with a 120/90R17 front dual sport tire, similar to the Shinko 705.
