brake light?

RE: brake light?
Yeah,it's a double filament bulb, so the one for the brake light might be burned-out. You haven't done any work or suffered any impacts around the brake lever or master cylinder lately, have you? There is a micro switch, which activates the brake light, mounted to that assembly. Definitely look at the bulb first though.

If you have had the bulb out lately, it is possible to put it in backwards..and therefor the bright filament will be on when the key is on..brakes will activate the low filament and may not be noticeable difference..

one thing that i have had problems with on the klx and my CB, the rear brake light switch, it just pulls down with the lever and activates the light to come on, mine was sticking and not working at all... i had to take it off and WD-40 the hell out of it. There is a little spring attached to it that pulls it down from the lever. check that.

That's really reaching, MJ. You've got to be talented to do that because the bayonets are at a staggered depth from one another. Even if you were able to do it, I think he'd still notice something.

most people don't look at the depth, they simply look at the location of the tabs..and they are 180 degrees out, so it can easily be done...I've seen it happen

A single element bulb would also fit...and not work properly!..just throwing what I feel are simple things and logical ones..check the simple stuff first
