Brake caliper question '07 KLX300R/KLX250s

Sorry for all the threads I've been making lately, but...

Do the '07 KLX300R's have the same front brake caliper as the '07 KLX250S? I want to order the EBC front rotor kit off of motostrano.com. I've seen someone's bike on here that has the EBC kit and I'm assuming they purchased the KLX300R kit. The calipers look the same to me but I want to make sure before I make a $200+ purchase.

BP88, the calipers are the same but the screws to mount the rotor are not. The 300 uses 6x14 mm screws. The 250 uses 8x15 mm screws. As far as I know, the hole pattern and spacing are the same, just not the size of the screw holes. I think others have just drilled out the holes to fit the screws.

Thanks for the info, blud! Good thing my dad just bought a drill press. :)

Yeah, dude, I ordered the EBC kit from mawonline.com a while back but, for an '09. I think I scoured this forum for like a week before ordering to make sure I got the right stuff. You going full motard? I saw your other thread on axle sliders.

That reminds me, you see Tropic Thunder? "You went full retard, man- Never go full retard!"

Yeah, I figured if I'm already this far into the $ pit I may as well pull the trigger all the way. ;)

I haven't seen that movie but I heard it was pretty funny.

Newblud1775 02-04-2010 08:38 AM

Right on, bro. I'm planning to go the same route when I get home so, post up if you have any issues.

Will do!

Oh, and does anyone know of any companies that make larger front and smaller rear sprockets for our bikes? I need to regear my bike for top end.

MaverickAus 02-05-2010 03:43 AM

Kawasaki do

Newblud1775 02-05-2010 04:18 AM

Here's one. Front and back.

Ok, that last link takes you to the page at that site that's good for rear sprockets (KLX300 rear sprockets work). Also, at that site, you can find Honda XR650L front sprockets (15 tooth) that are also said to work. Elsewhere on this forum, I've read KLX650C-1 front sprockets will work and may fit better than the XR's. Link to that thread: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...front+sprocket

What you want is an OS 6330 for the front brake.

BP88 02-05-2010 07:12 PM

Thanks, Sid!! Beats drilling out the bolt holes for sure.

Newblud1775 02-07-2010 12:33 PM

Page 309 of the catalog shows the 320mm oversize rotor kit for a 2007 as part number SM6330 and the 280mm oversize rotor as p/n OS6330. Dammit, I knew I should have waited for the correct part. Oh well, good luck with your correct parts and NOT drilling out stuff and NOT having catastrophic failures at speed. Have fun with that!

BP88 02-08-2010 12:05 AM

EBC's US online vendor doesn't carry part #SM6330... only OS6330. Anyone know where I can get the 320mm kit?

Sid Post 02-08-2010 12:05 PM

Hmmm ... maybe we need a group buy from England or Japan.

marc11 02-09-2010 12:07 PM

Hey guys where in the USA are you finding the over sized rotor and bracket part number OS 6330? I contacted the EBC USA dealer and they said they couldn't get it.

Sid Post 02-09-2010 04:38 PM

This is the email response I got from their distributor in England:

Can I order an OS 6330 from you? The USA distributor does carry this rotor. What's my final price to have it delivered in the USA?

Best Regards,
Sid
