Default Bought my hubby a full Muzzy for his 07 and he doesnt like it.....

His bike is a 07 and he thinks its too loud. Do you think if he gets the quiet core it will make a difference? I also bought the DJ kit, it says its for the 300 is that right? I think he is comparing it to his friends 09 who also has the full muzzy and hers it quite a bit quieter. The muzzy for the 09 looks oval and the 07 is round, hope its the right one!! Thanks

Any of the aftermarket exhausts are going to be louder then the factory 2007 version. That 1/4 inch hole blocks a lot of exhaust flow and noise.

For carb mods, I'd get the individual parts and not the DJ kit for the KLX-300. Ron Ayers sold me all the "factory" parts I needed for less then half what the DJ kit would have cost me.

Tell him that loud pipes saves lives. Its just that simple. I have the full Muzzy and the spark arrestor, and its loud. But when you are in the neighborhood you can keep it a little quieter by gear selection and how much throttle you use. Tell him to chill. Its all good.

What is the quiet core anyway? I thought mine had that, but really all that's in there is packing and a tapered screen/cone. Is that the quiet core? if it is then it should be called the not so quiet core.........

Hmmmmmm I repacked mine at 10,000 miles and I don't remember that other piece. all I remember is the screen. I'll have to dig up my repack thread.

Here's the thread, can anyone tell by the pictures if I have the quiet core? I told the shop that's what I wanted. Now I'm not sure if its there. And if its not there and I added it in would it mess up my perfect jetting setup?

Don't you love it when I answer my own questions.

Is this the quiet core? It looks shorter than the one from the website. Come on Muzzy owners, I need to know. Sorry for the sort of thread jack.

yep, that's it. theres not much to it.

Muzzy pre installed mine before they shipped it. They got a little crazy with the lock-tite because I can't remove one of the bolts without stripping the head. I guess the core and screen will stay for now.
