Default Black plastics solution???

Here's a question... anyone ever try to use RIT fabric dye to change the color of motorcycle plastics? I know RIT works on plastic (frisbee's, etc). Are these "plastics" actually plastic? Nylon? Was thinking about trying to dye the side panels black. Might not be perfect, but if they're weren't a deep black then I'd hit them with a coat or two of Krylon Fusion. That way if they did scratch maybe the underlying color wouldn't be white and show thru so much. Thoughts?

RIT can work on a lot of different stuff... my Dad's a big golfer and he dye's his golf ***** custom colors all the time. I just didn't know if anyone had tried motorcycle plastics before. Obviously, I don't wanna screw up and ruin the side panels considering what Kawa. charges for replacements...

The plastic does look much sharper being black and the fusion paint seems to hold up well,I did my trucks plastic grill and never lost a chunk in 3 yrs of driving, plowing and woods riding. It faded some but was always in direct sun.

That black really looks sharp. Sort of gives a Supermoto look to the bike.

I think I'll have to change mine.
