I think this is a great chance for some "baseline" results and I for one, really thank you guys.

Hp's not everything...... the Ironman I just did beat me up pretty good, and more HP would have only made the beating worse, lap(22 miles) times would have been quicker but I'm not sure it would have changed the overall end for me.
I'm really interested in haveing more torque coming out of corners and less downshifting but I really need a stiffer set up before I worry about huge or even big top end.
Thanks B & B and Bake!

Thanks very much for your positive feedback. As you say, peak HP isn't everything. I think the 250 engine in general has the potential of a decent compromise of both torque and HP. For my own use, mid range torque for riding trails in Colorado is the optimum performance. Strong, quick pulling power from mid-revs is far far more useful than top end ability in those riding conditions. Less shifting also helps, because picking your way up a steep, switchbacked trail built entirely of rocks large and small is very technical.

I'm not useless, I can be used as a bad example...

Knowledge is power, I would like to see the dyno results.

I too believe that the engine will be overly restricted, but I've been wrong before (there was that one time in 1979, and then again in 1992). Wouldn't be be funny if I was wrong this time? Let's see the dyno charts! At least you'll know where you're at, and you'll have a baseline to compare with other/future mods.

When are you "green guys" going to come this way for some trail riding?

Have you ridden at Milford / School Creek before?

I'm interested how well the bike stays cool with the big bore, especially in the heat of the summer on the trails. Keep us posted as the year progresses.

I will be adding the slimline Rotron fan to both radiators, one always on, the other wired to factory temp sensor, to keep the temps down in the hot summer on my 351 beast.

no one is more curious than I am

I rode it in temps up to 70F, and I plan to catch some more of that this weekend. It's Kansas...tonite 15F, Friday 70F

I highly suggest everyone change their coolant to Engine Ice. Bill and I have always used it, and it alone will drop the temps 10F or more. It made a huge difference on my BMW F650 w/ Staintune pipe. That bike ran just below the !! mark and the new coolant dropped it to ahhh...

We have. Fun area, if you can catch it when their aren't so many ATV's.
But we prefer to ride the Medicine Lodge, Kansas area, it's very nice riding, and closer, only about 80 minutes away.

um, "beast" is a bit of a stretch I'd say. especially for a kit that didn't make as much power as a kit with nearly 20cc less displacement. this kit, is alot like the week before the super bowl- it's a lot of hype. JMO

I am putting on the 351 kit, Stage I racing cams, old school CDI with better ignition timing, and a pumper 34mm, so I think beast is the right word. Once all that is on, I will take it to the local dyno and have them tune the carb, and post up the results.
