Default Bike Stand For KLX250SF Maintenance

Hi all,

I was looking at doing some maintenance jobs in the future and browsing bike stands. A suitable investment for the D.I.Y'er.

I'm looking to change tires, sprockets, chain, etc.

From what I understand, a typical MX stand might not work for a supermoto.

There are other stands, but I don't want to drop 100+ on a jack-type stand when a particular MX stand might work just as well.

I have an SF (2009)

So what stands do you all use to prop up your ride? Specifically any SF riders. And why, exactly, won't a typical MX stand work for a supermoto? Or will it...

I looked at the ground clearance specs for the S and SF models. 8.9" vs. 11.2" means that using most dirt bike style stands are going to be to tall to slide under the bike without lifting it onto the stand. My Harbor Freight MX stand just clears my S model so there is no way your SF is going to fit.

Default triple lift 4000

I bought a triple lift 4000 jack a while ago. I would NOT buy again. Went to use it would not hold up. Only bought the jack because of the features it had, would lift a car, motorcycle, or atv.

The only way you can lift the motorcycle though is to use ratchet straps and tie them into the hooks that are on the jack. I can do this and lift the motorcycle up far enough to clean the wheels and tires.

For what I paid for the triple lift, you can buy a motorcycle only lift, I have looked and looked and haven't found one yet online I would buy.

This lift goes as low as 9.5" :Motorsport Products P-12 Lift Stand - Motorcycle Superstore

Should be able to get the SF on it with a little bit of muscle.

I have this stand and don't like it.

TRACKSIDE - Aluminum MX Lift Stand - Lift Stands - Stands - Accessories - Cycle Gear

The pedal is wobbly and requires a lot of push to get the bike up. Plus I always seem to have a hard time getting the bike centered on it. But for the rare times I need to jack my bike up it works.

I have one of these lifts and it works great on my 2007 KLX 250S
It doesn't take any muscle at all. Just slide the lift under the bike and stand on the raising pedal.
I also use it to park the bike so it takes less room in the garage than parking on the sidestand.

I use this one on my 2007 and love it.

It says it has a min height of 9", but I'm sure you can deal with that 1/3" difference by just sliding/tilting it off kickstand and onto lift.

Notice the metal band?
They don't make milk crates like that anymore.
