Question Bike pauses

OK, today on my ride home from work my 250sf started to hiccup, no set rpm range but I'd say around 2/3 throttle. At least once in every half mile the bike would pause or cut out drop 100 rpm so like from 6800 rpm down to 6700rpm. I keep thinking the bike is running lean I still almost always have to choke it to start it. I now have about 240-250 miles on it it is an 09 klx250sf all stock. I thought bad gas but this is my 4th tank from the same station. so any takers on what it could be.

Having to use the choke everytime you start leads me to believe yours is running very lean. If your not doing a re-jet soon I would make sure the fuel/air screw is 2.5 turns out from the seated position. This helped my 09 is a big way at no cost. Getting the carb re-jetted would be the best fix. IMO.

Mine does the same, stopped by the shop tonight and my buddy said it sounded like carb needed to be adjusted. Usually runs fine till engine heats up. Have to choke mine everytime I start too.

Thanks for the input, I do have a re-jet planned very soon. I'm shopping for a new pipe and silencer right now along with an air filter and lid removal planned.

So may just try adjusting the carb in the morning to get by till I can get the parts to re jet.
