Bike dies when given gas
Hey guys I've got a 2007 that started bogging down and died while riding, it would start up and idle fine but any gas kills it. My dad thinks the carb needs to be cleaned but Ive never done anything like this before, can anyone help me out with a step by step?

Check choke operation, air filter is clean and has oil, air filter lid in place, make sure there are no air leaks around the boot / manifold. I assume you have enough clean fuel and the petcock is on, do you have a fuel filter and is it clean? Is the inside of the tank clean not rusted / gunged up?

Man, that bike is clean and pristine for an '07...at least appearance-wise from the pic. Does the bike sit for long periods? If so, I'm assuming fuel has gone bad causing a clog in one or more of the fuel circuits in the carb. Usually it's the pilot jet that clogs first, but yours sounds like it's still open if it idles smoothly. Has this carb been opened up before as far as you know?

The carb will have to come off and be cleaned; no way around it. If you aren't comfortable removing it, disassembling it. thoroughly cleaning it with carb cleaner and compressed air, evaluating its condition and reinstalling it, you should take the bike to a shop.
