Hmmm...not sure you can make that ironclad statement as it pertains to dust storms. We used to have dust storms when I was growing up in west Texas during some times of the year at a rate of one per week...and I mean dust storms where you could barely see across a neighborhood street. We rarely have even slight dust storms now, and those are a mere shadow of what we used to have. Learjet who posted from Oklahoma might be old enough to remember the same thing in his state. There are many factors that cause dust storms. I notice Aussie weather history shows a worse storm 70 years or so ago. Is global warming to blame for that one? This is a motorcycle forum, not a political forum...but since you brought it up.

Must have been a good duster. It made our national, and local, and weather news in Northwestern Ontario, Canada.

Its fair to say that the dust storm itself wasn't caused by climate change.
Just an unusual combination of weather patterns.

But, most of southern Australia is very very dry.
And getting worse year by year.

I don't think there is much doubt that the worlds climate is changing.
The only question is the cause and can we do anything about it.

I'll leave that to the scientists.

neil, how are y'alls practices as far as farming and ranching go down there? Here in Texas it was brutal as far as erosion and sand storms until methods were changed in the not so distant past. I was just curious, as I know nothing about your country's farming, ranching, and land use issues. Stuff like that made a dramatic difference here in our area.
