BG Quiet Core is in - Im Baffled
Just got my big gun quiet core in the mail... looks great now all I have to do is insert it...
Problems is, I'm not sure which way the baffles go... Do they point IN toward the flow of air from the head pipe or point OUT, toward the end cap???
Any help would be MUCHO APRECATO!!!

Good question!
I would suggest looking at how your Race Core is installed, and orient the Quiet Core the same way. From the pictures at the BG web site, it looks like both cores are completely perforated with holes, except for the last couple inches at one end. Use this feature to distinguish how the Race Core is installed.
I don't have a Quiet Core yet, but from what I can tell by looking into the end of my silencer, the perforations go all the way to that end. Again, going by the picture at the BG website, I'm guessing the core is inserted with the baffles angled OUT towards the end cap (in other words, the baffles divert the exhaust flow back and forth inside the tube rather than diverting it directly outward into the packing).
I don't know for sure, but that's my guess.

Good question! From my experience, you could either call customer support, or you could stab yourself multiple times in the eye with an ice pick ... both methods are equally effective, although the ice pick method is probably a quicker way to getting an answer.
A third alternative would be to look at how your Race Core is installed, and orient the Quiet Core the same way. From the pictures at the ACME Widgets web site (Ask EMS for an explanation), it looks like both cores are completely perforated with holes, except for the last inch or so at one end. Use this feature to distinguish how the Race Core is installed.
I don't have a Quiet Core yet, but thanks to Acme's wonderful customer support department, I may have one before Y3K arrives. I don't know for sure, but the clowns at ACME Widgets Customer Service know even less than I do. So your choice: take my advice, pick up the phone ... or get yourself an ice pick.

Thanks YYY.GUY, I was thinking that it would better for the exhost to 'flow out' then to be 'swimming up stream' against the baffles...
UNFORTUNATELY, (HERE WE GO AGAIN....[:@]) they sent me the wrong part.
This quiet core is a half inch too long and does not have the solid female mounting bracket that fits on the end of the exhaust pipe at the begining of the canister. (the race core Im trying to replace does)
Either it missed that last part of the mfg process or it is just the wrong core (since i don't see any other types of cores on their site except onces with the solid female mounting bracket on the one end, Im guessing it was not quite through the mfg process[:@].....training training training.....)
I have an email now into them and will also call tomorrow.
I'll let you know how it goes working directly with the company.....

OK, Got ahold of the Service rep for BG who said that I had somehow ordered a "quiet core straight pipe" vs the picture of the quiet core with the smooth metal shroud on it that I cliked on....hmmmmm.....
In any event, she said that i should return it and specify that I need to order a "Quiet core with BELL ON END and trimmed down 1/2 inch"
I'm sending it back tonight on my way home, I'll let you know how it goes...
WARNING: If you do decide to order the quiet core in the future, be sure to tell them in the comments field that you need a quiet core with a bell on the end and what the EXACT final measurements should be based on the core your replacing... (not sure why I would need to tell them those demensions but hey, I want this done right so I'm getting out my measuring tape.....)
Sincerely,
Forsook.

I'm sorry I just couldn't help it, man I'm a stinker today.

I am sooooooooooo happy that I have not dealt with BG CS. I would have flown in and throw my pipe at them. Once I was calling my internet provider customer service office and they had the habit of putting me on hold for 15 to 35 minutes. I decided to drive to their office while I was on hold , a 23 minute drive. Got there and went to lobby. You could see all the workers as there was no wall so I handed the receptionist the phone and said phone call for you, she's like for me ? I said yes as she grabbed the phone and heard the hold music she looked at the employees antd then back a me, how long I had been holding? she asked, I showed the minute timer on the call almost 25 minutes ..Nobody was on the phone or busy that they could not help me, and she could not believe I drove there while on hold and nobod yhad bothered to pick up the call again. Needless to say I got a supervisor involved and got two months free DSL and blah blah *** chewing for the incompetent customer service people. If that was Japan the employees would have had to commit Sepukku as this was as embarasing as they come.
Now if you ever wonder what the people are doing on the other end of the tel when you are put on hold is probably nothing or running bets on how long you will hold if you are calling from your cellphone .
Good luck on the BGCS Saga.....

Do you get a specific part number from them, or do you have to state the slightly-less-than-exact "BELL ON END and trimmed down 1/2 inch" phrase when ordering?
