The 606 is an ok tire. When it gets close to half worn there isnt any traction anymore. Its good at first but then not so good, the front washed out on me alot. I think im going with a non DOT front and a trackmaster rear. I have gone through 3 trackmaster rears.

Have you tried the Geomax line? I have a non-DOT front, M71 I believe is what it is called. REALLY bites well on the edges, and, since it is their hard compound, lasts well in the rocks and on the street...although I wouldn't trust it to bite well on the street!

My fav tire so far is the Dunlop 606, but I have to say that the Kenda wore really slow, I mean I put 5,000 miles on the back one and it still had 50% left, and that was off and on road. The front tire I have currently is the matching Kenda K270 and is close to 9,000 and still looks new. So it really boils down to how much money you have and how often you want to change tires. The knobbier (is that a word?) the tire is the faster it will wear on the streets, and the more street a tire is the longer it will wear on the street but will suffer traction off road. You have to pick where you ride most and adapt how you ride at the places you are not at as much.

Yep. The K270 at low pressures (15 or so), needs a rim lock. But, it will REALLY grip well in dry conditions....almost as good as a trials tire. I think you guys riding in mud/wet would probably like a knobbier tire off-road.

Michelin T63 About $60
I've run them on my DRZ for the last 2 years and really like them. Very solid on the street, and not too noisy.

Not that great on wear for street riding. They hook up nice it the dirt. I ran a 130 on the rear for around 1800 to 2000 miles, but if done again, would get a 110.

Its soundiling like D 606's are the best compromise so far from you guys. I have a pair 130's rear they wore down to half after 1500 miles. Im hearing things about K270 being good wearing tires.

I think the IRC GP1(same tread pattern as K270 and Shrinko 44?) will hold the street a little better due to a bit softer compound. I've got the GP1 on the rear now and really like it. I've not ran the others but this is what I found from searching.
DOn't get the 5.10 size. It will jack up the rear and make for squirrly steering. You'll get more contact patch from the 4.60 since it's not pinched on the rim. Bigger is not always better.
I recommend retractable ice spikes for the front. Wish I could find some of those!
