Talking Best riding pants?

I need to buy some new pants for the wife and myself and seeing we never had any before (we had pants, just not riding pants), I would like to hear what brands hold up and fit the best. Also, do they run true to size or not? I wear a size 40 in jeans but my waist measures 44 1/2 so I would think to buy the riding pants in a 44. Rocky Mountain has some good deals but I hate to have to send them back.
Thanks,
db

Some brands are true to size but most are not, I have a pair of Thor Ride pants and they run smaller than marked, I also have a pair of Fieldsheer pants and they run larger.
Your best bet is to call and speak with a rep or go to other web sites and read some reviews.
You may be somewhat limited finding pants that size.

I like moose products. I'm on the way heavy side and have had good luck with them fitting.

Ok, I think we can rule out the chaps but thanks for the help anyhow. I will look at the Moose and Thor and call a few places. I know even the glove charts are not accurate so even if you follow them you get gloves that are too small.

(chaps, what were you thinking)

I want over the boot pants. Is there another word for "over the boot" when searching for mx pants?
Thanks,
db

(not "under the chaps" either)

I had a pair of Thor Static and Shift Recon pants, both over the boot. My big complaint on both of them is they were a little short in the inseam(altough I am 6'1"). The thor is much better of a pant then the Shift. The Thor have removable hip pads and lower leg gaiters. They were also a little less baggy then the shift's. The Thors did seem a little less water resistant than the Shift's though. The thors also had better pockets in them.

Next pair I get I am going to try and get a pair that has side leg zippers to help aid with putting the boots and knee guards on.

I normally wear a between a 32 and 34 (I usually try for a 33) in jeans. I had a 34 in both pairs and wouldn't have wanted them any tighter.

Rocky mountain has some good deals, and you can usually find good deals on Ebay for pants as well.
