Ya know, I had finally made-up my mind to do a Hokkaido run a few months ago, during a Japanese holiday, but didn't buy my ferry tickets early enough. Shoot, I though the ferry was pretty much like taking a bus; just show-up and get your ticket, but nooooo they were booked when I tried to buy them a week prior. I will plan better next season. I have made it to Hokkaido by train and once by boat but never rode a bike there. I loved Sapporo and Hokodate....especially Sapporo because it's designed by a westerner, so it's gridded out with streets that actually have names. After heading across a portion of Hokkaido by train, I knew I had to get a bike up there...absolutely beautiful country.

Yup, been to Hachinohe coast, kitayamazaki and points well beyond. The Sea of Japan side is hoot as well.
