The dual exhaust on the CRF250f was factory back in 06 I think. They have now brought it back and are using it on the new CRF250F and CRF450F.

That's a great looking bike..

The new CRF250R uses an exclusive twin-muffler setup. The mufflers are way shorter and lower tucking in much closer to the bike’s center of mass. That helps make the CRF250R a better handling machine, and also contributes to the bike’s improved power.

Speaking of exhaust.. as I look at some of Dirt Rider magazine's Factory Bike Friday race Honda articles, I don't see much in the way of bomb pipes on factory race bikes. Cole Seely has a small bomb on his, but the other ones did not. Certainly no mega-bomb headers.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

With so many mountains over here I've tried to get some of the locals who organize events to stage a Widowmaker style hill climb once or twice a year. I know it'd be a huge success with hopped up scooters trying for the top, but they're just not catching on to it..

2nd gear roll (w/34CVK carb) from 30 kph to across the 'finish line':

CRF250 duals - 9.78 sec

Single straight thru muffler - 9.75 sec

So it's a wash, other than how trick the duals would look if installed properly, and how much quieter that system is. It's nice to not be making so much noise. If I didn't have to cut the battery framework off I'd probably add the CRF duals now. (which I may do someday anyway)

The bolt 'em on and try them installed length for the duals was at least a foot longer than the single muffler's OAL, and longer than it'd be if they were installed permanent. Which could have made some sort of difference all by itself; more torque/less hi rpm power?

The bike seemed to be revving higher in the gear I crossed the line in with the single muffler's shorter total length than with the duals, but the torque of the duals' longer length got it there just as quickly.

I originally bought the complete CRF system (eBay $125) because I thought it'd look cool, and it will - if I get around to putting it on.
