Default Anybody change fork oil yet?

Has anyone changed thier fork oil? From the service manual it looks kinda complicated.... and may require special tools? Has anyone done it? Id like to get my new springs in, and id like to replace the oil for some thicker oil..... any help?

Default RE: Anybody change fork oil yet?

I replaced the springs with some 46 kg's and I did not change the oil. I only have 1200 miles on it. I was of the belief that the oil viscosity stayed the same and the click adjusters made the difference in response. One thing I learned was that it was real simple to change the spring once the tube was completely off the bike. When it is off you can slide theshock together and get at the nut that locks the spring on and also you can just pour the oil out.

I changed the second spring without removing the tube but I had the wheel off and compressed the shock enough to get to the nut that holds the spring and also had another wrench handy to support the spring while I loosened the nut.

It is important to get the tubes parallel again when the wheel goes back on. Just make sure the tubes are not slayed outward or pinch inward.
