Any problems yet?
Anyone have their bikes back to the shop yet for warranty work? I noticed the other day that my brake line was wearing through my clutch cable. It turns out they were routed improperly from new and Kawasaki paid for a new clutch cable for my bike.
I had my bike in for new fork seals. One of them was leaking so they replaced both seals. They replaced my front brake pads because the fork oil leaked and ran down the fork and contaminated the brake pads. I had about 200 miles on the bike at the time the warranty work was done so there was no charge.[sm=smiley20.gif]
Hello All,
I just picked up my klx250 on Saturday. I trucked it home(North Georgia-more Kennesaw sightings in the future) and proceeded to put some easy break in miles on it. I love how it rides. The riding position is excellent compared to my (ex) ZX636R. joy to ride.
The only issue i have and I will treat it as a minor issue until first service, is the shifting. I had probably three false neutrals and when i actually wanted neutral, it was elusive. It also disengaged fourth or fifth into neutral under load. I know this bike has a different shifting throw and feel, but I am curious to know if anyone else has similar problems....
Thanks,
Nathan

Nathan,
I don't get too many false neutrals (very occasionally), but can be a problem finding neutral at times. I don't know what it is? It has its days where it's not so much of a problem, but other days just can't get it. I've done 1000miles on my bike now. Might ask the dealer if he knows of a problem next time I'm in there.
I changed the weight of my oil at the last oil change (went to a lighter oil) and I think this may have helped a bit, but not sure.

speaking of shifting problems, have any of you had to come to almost a skidding panic stop on the pavement, i have done that a few times, stupid people, and when i hit the brakes i pull the clutch in also but when i try to downshift after the panic wears off, it doesnt seem to want to down shift, it takes a bunch if trys before it does. anyone else have had this issue?

every bike ive ridden does this. you mean once you get to slow speeds and try to downshift from 4th or 3rd gear? usually letting the clutch out a tad will help it engage. under normal situations i downshift and use engine braking to help slow down

yep, what he just said. every motocross bike and street bike i've owned did this. just let the clutch out a tiny bit and then it will downshift. i use to get false neutrals and i only have 180 miles on my bike. i changed the oil and it doesn't happen anymore. i think we're all so concentrated on pulling the front end up under heavy shifting that we don't fully engage the shifting mechanisms. plus, any bike will be a bully when shifting with the throttle on. I put in that new Castrol 4-stroke oil and a new spark plug and the thing flat out rocks now. Of course I have the Big Gun EvoX full system and the usual jetting mods and other "free" mods. Quite happy with the 250 now. I actually rode a wheelie in 2nd until it revved too high tonight, I then shifted into third but ran out of room. Clutching it in 2nd easily brings the front end up and a wheelie is then on, boy it's fun.
I have had those problems too and I have never had problems with shifting with any other bike, I'm thinking about trying the star shift fix even tho it's not sposed to be a problem on these bikes
