Default Any other problems with racks or broken subframes carrying a load?

Just curious as to any other problems with the 06-07 model racks, or any of the 09's with aftermarket racks. I read the thread about the gas tank on an '06 model breaking... https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ead.php?t=2296 ...and just wondered if it was an isolated incident or not.

Plus, what are y'all loading on your racks?

I personally have had no problems with a weld or rack breakage on my '07. I've loaded up a case of Monster Energy drinks and Millier Lite 30 packs here and there and everything's been 'cool and the gang'.

Default racks

no problems at all. the strap let go once and the bike hit the ground

at about 50 mph. bent the bracket for the flasher , rubed a hole in the

flasher scraped the pipe and hand guards , but the rack still o.k.

So, you did not have a rack break, nor subframe break, nor purchase a rack for an '09 and have any problems?

If you plan to carry heavy loads over rugged terrain, I'd recommend getting the subframe gusseted....if that's a word

On pavement, it's not much of an issue.

Wow, scary stuff. I've seen no issues yet with my 06' KLX. The only thing wrong is the weld for the left blinker light is becoming weak. I expect one ride for it to fall off.

Next time, I'm taking my plastics off and really check that sub-frame. I'd hate to have that happen. And I don't carry anyloads on the rack, other than use the rack as a means to hold the bike upright.

I just carry my Wolman Enduro toolbag had no issues. Think the sticker that used to be on the bike said max load 11 pounds. 07 model by the way.

I put the business end of almost 75 lbs on that rack on my trip to Canada, and some of the roads were brutal, like you were riding on a train track. I haven't seen a problem yet, but that doesn't mean it won't happen.
