Default Anti-rattle spring in our brakes?

What is the anti-rattle spring? Where does it go? Anyone have pictures to share?

I had a tube failure in my rear tire so, considering I have 9500 miles on the factory pads I decided to change them while the rear tire was off. I took the long pin out that holds the pads in the caliper. I never noticed an "anti-rattle spring". Did it fall out in the parking lot and get lost?

Also, if my motorcycle sits for a few days I have to pump my brakes to get them to work. Is this a sign the fluid is going bad or, that the master cylinder needs service?

Thanks!
Sid
