Another Newbie Question

hi all

Im looking to order a FMF Powercore 4 exhaust this weekend for my 2012 klx 250. will this completely replace the current exhaust and just directly bolt right up? or is there any more mods that need to be done to complete the install?

i here a lot of talk about rejetting and/or remapping the bike is this something that will also need to be done?

sorry for all the questions, engines arnt really my strong point :o

thanks for the help guys

It is just the can, not the header, that is sold separately but not necessary. It will bolt right up with out it.

Some will say that it will be fine without re-jetting. I think the bike needs to be re-jetted stock let alone with a pipe.

Im not planning on getting the pipe unless i can get it at a reasonable price, other than that it should just bolt right up?? thanks for your help

Yes it will. I was editing my post when you replied.

You shouldn't need to rejet if all you do is the slip-on. Follow the directions and use high temp sealant (orange/red) at the joint. Apply liberally and let set 24-hours before running. If you don't you'll have an exhaust leak.

Like I said some will say not to, I would.

I'm just reiterating what FMF states. Folks can take away from it what they want.

Mine ran fine with just the slip-on. But as soon as I put in the KDX snorkel I had to rejet.

At the minimum the air fuel screw should be adjusted for your conditions. Most find it lean, turning it out can help.

Jet it jet it jet it. Performance is gained from jetting, the pipe just helps. You can jet a stock klx250s with stock air box and pipe and it will run much better.
