Another Jetting question
I know there have been a thousand jetting threads, and I feel like I've read most of them! I'm still trying to figure out what I should do.
I have an 09 that is basically stock.
I just did a 800 mile dual sport ride through Northern Nevada and the bike ran great. We rode from 2500 feet to about 9200 feet. The bike didn't like to start and was gutless at the high altitudes but still got 65 plus mpg and never left me stranded! Now unfortunately, I'm hooked on the big tours and need just a bit more power! Honestly the stock set up had some advantages in reliability and gas mileage. It only sucked when I couldn't blast up some big climbs but had to tractor up in first, and on the long sections when 65 and high rpms got old quick. It didn't stop me and I really saw the advantages to being on a smaller lighter bike.
Since being back I wanted to add a bit of power so got a fmf q4 and want to rejet. Here is the main question. I live at 6200 feet and do most of my riding close by, but do travel to sea level and ride a bit as well. The stock set up seems to work great everywhere I have been, with the exception that it lacks power. This winter will be a 351 upgrade. So that being said, should I just ride it the way it is? Or jet it? How should I jet it? Will it run when I'm down on the coast? How does the stock set up work so well at all elevations?
Thanks in advance! This forum has been great for me and inspired me to go on my big ride! Look forward to hearing from people with more experience! Thanks.

Whoooahahhao! Nice! Well even the 351 I hear is a bit buzzy on the freeway compared to other bikes. I turn about 6k at 60 mph (indicated). But I have 13/39 gearing. If you go big bore with taller gearing it shouldn't be as buzzy. But not as fun accelerating either
The stock carb does do one thing good, it handles elevation changes pretty good, until you hit about 10,000 ft. Rejetting is not going to get back the power you lack at high altitudes unless the engine is missing out/stalling. The higher you go the less power you are going to make, period.
That is unless you turbo.
