Default Another 2 Bros report...

Well, after waiting literally months for a Muzzy system to ship, I gave up, and decided to pull the trigger on the 2 Bros Slip On system. Time from order to arrival was about a week and some change, totally acceptable. I ordered direct from their website. www.twobros.com

Last night, went to do the install. Product looks great, nicely packaged, well put together. It should work well, however, I wouldn't know yet.The problem, similar to another recent posting, I was missing 1 absolutely key part - the ring that holds the mid pipe to the actual can. Not possible to install without this piece. Also not a piece you can just run to the hardware store and find a replacement for. Frustrating.

Called the company today, they were very apologetic, and based on their reaction, I suspect mine was not the first call they recently had along these lines. At any rate, they are shipping the part to me, should be here in a day or two. Decent response to the problem, however, it shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I recall a recent posting by another frustrated klx'er, and I must now join that club, as well as justify the complaints about quality control. The "system" basically consists of 4 things -the can, the mid pipe, the "x-lite ring" to connect the two (which I'm missing), and a bag of nuts and bolts to hook it all up. How hard is it to make sure that 4 things are in the box?

On a side note, I briefly fired up the bike, with only the header/mid pipe installed. Loud. (hehehe)

I am new to the forum (so I apologize if I don’t’ do this right) and I just purchased a 07 KLX 250 a few weeks ago and lets just say I am mechanically challenged J I looked at several slip ons and finally decided to go with the 2 Brothers (mostly because of the M7 VALVE that allows you to add a power tip which I may actually take advantage of). I called their support line before ordering because I had a few questions and they answer all my questions (much more help than the local dealer) so I told him I would order one.

The representative at 2 Bros suggested I call Star Cycle (800-990-BIKE @ http://www.starcycle.com) to get a discount. I called them as soon as I got off the phone and they were extremely helpful as well. I called Friday in the afternoon (which means it didn’t ship until Saturday) and it arrived today (Tuesday) which was much quicker than what I expected. He checked local distributors and found one close to me (in Ohio). Couldn’t ask for more, and on top of all that, the total cost was $326 delivered (a heck of a lot cheaper than the dealer or on the web site)!
I just got done putting it on a few minutes ago. No missing parts, no problem. Only took about 20 minutes (which is good considering I am mechanically challenged JLouder than I thought it would be but sounds great and runs much better (may be too loud to drive around the neighborhood so I may get a P3 Power Tip). I am waiting for the new KDX snorkel (which should arrive tomorrow) then I plan to take my baby to the dealer to get the 13 tooth front sprocket and to get it re-jetted (way too much for me to do).

Sounds like they have a disgruntled employee in the packaging department.

First, welcome to the forum.

Second, thanks for the info on Star Cycle. I called earlier today and they had one in stock and the guy said he could have it to me on Friday! This is after I got screwed by my dealer. I ordered one when I brought my bike in for the first service. I checked again in a week and a half and the guy in parts told me it was backordered but would be in around the beginning of August. I called again today as it'sbeen a month and the guysaid that he didn't even see one on order for me!!!! [:@]What kind of sh#t is that! I do know where I won'tbe spending any more of my money. Anyway, thanks again and I hope it comes on Friday and not missing any parts.

Hey guys,
Another Noob so sorry if this is a stupid question, but do you have to re-jet with the slip-on systems? Interested in getting a TB pipe but am trying to figure out other costs that might be coming along with it.
Thanks for any input.

HawaiiRider -- Some afternoon take Your snorkel off of Your air box lid, then put the lid back on, and go for a ride...don't leave it that way without rejetting because it will make the engine run leaner & hotter. When You feel the extra umph..from removing the snorkel, just think if fuel was added too (jet kit). That will give You a taste of how restricted the bike is in stock form. If You don't feel like doing the jetting Yourself most shops should be able do it for You for under $60 labor.

Welcome to the site, from your post you don't sound mechanically challenged at all. However I did have the mechanic at my dealership do the jetting for me since he's also a MX racer (in the over the hill class) and he did an awesome job. I would recommend having the shop doing the jetting, but you should b able to change out the front gear pretty easy yourself, but then again, if its in the shop, I suppose it would take them all of 5 minutes to do it for you. Again welcome and have fun, because as we all know, if your riding the KLX you can't help but have fun.[sm=smiley20.gif]
