Is an aftermarket air filter really worth it?
I'm thinking of getting one because I hear they help. I already took my airbox lid off. However, looking at my stock filter it looks like a fine piece of foam. Does aftermarkets like uni or twin air really get that much better airflow? Also which seems to be better?
Worried about riding in the rain with no snorkel? Iv'e been looking at how air gets into the air box and it looks pretty restricted. It looks like most of the air the air box gets is coming off the radiators. Try taping a small piece of paper on top of the air box lid and then go for a ride in the rain. Don't miss any puddles. If water got up there, you'll know.Cheap, easy, effective and foolproof.

What type of riding do you primarily do?
In purely financial terms a good quality washable air filter will save you money over the life of a bike (or car) when compared to the cost of replacing the paper filers every xKM or yhours, not to mention having cleaner air and thus less wear and tear on the engine. In performance terms it's hard to say. A K&N will flow more air than a paper filter, but if the original wasn't restricting the motor then you won't gain anything.
Over all I personally think it's worth doing, but ultimately it's up to you.
