after klx250 what? A buyers guide
XR650 is a nice option thanks i will try to find a used one. The xr400 is air cooled and i dont like this (so as the Xr250)
i allready sold my klx for 1000$ (with the damaged head and piston). Sorry i didnt have the courage to rebuild it again especially after i ve been through to rebuild it, making only 1000 miles before engine's failure
the wr450F dual sport is a good idea also, thanks.
I realy thank you for your advices....

What is wrong with Air cooled? I would take an XR 2550/400 over the Liquid cooled KLX any day for off-road ability. The have a lot of low end grunt.
Sold My KLX and bought a Yamaha FZ6 to ride on the street and a 1986 Yamaha TT225 for the dirt. The TT225 is air cooled and it will idle up the hills behind my house in second gear. I had to get the KLX to scream to make it. its not because it is air cooled it is just designed with a longer stroke so it makes a ton of torque.

XR650L has been out for a long time. Great used deals are out there. Air cooled and Honda reliable. Simple uncorking and they have good H.P. and torque. With knobbies can be fun off road despite the extra weight. Great all around bike for the money.

What it sounds like you need is a KLR 650. They are cheap, reliable, and there are tons of acessories when/if you want to personalize it. They are great on the highway and you can ride them on most trails if you are tall enough, but remember, you may have to pick it up if you drop it.
I found the KLX 400 to be an excellent bike but a little too long for tight trails. My KLX250S is better for really tight trails. I may have less power but I have less weight and am less tired at the end of the day.
Good luck in your search..............L
