After 45 days.......

Well i finally got my bike back yesterday, after 45 days...... I asked the service manager why they dont stock vavle shims he said there is too many to have to keep in stock..... wtf ever..... New head, intake valves, tappets, cam chain tensioner, spark plug, oil.....Runs good. Brought it to work today. Its still not as quiet as everyone elses bike. I dont care right now, i dont know what else it could be. What ever im just happy to have it back.

Wow! a month and a half!

Well I'm glad to here you finally got the bike back.

I wonder if your problem might be with the wrist pin or something in the bottom end.

na its on the top end.... who knows, it doesnt matter until the warranty runs out..... o and the mechanic is gonna tell kawi that i dropped it off like 3 days before the original warranty expired, he says that kawi gets weird about claims with in the first 60 days of the extended warranty, so he is gonna put it under the original.

RE: After 45 days.......

Mine has a little clatter in the top end but I'm almost positive its the valves. When I adjusted them it was between 2 shim sizes, one made it on the tight end of the clearance spec, the other made it on the loose side, so I went with the loose one. Its only noticeable at certain rpms, or it could be the auto decomp getting loose, I've got 4200 miles on it.

Well i went to adjust my air mixture screw and found that my intake tube from the airbox wasnt on the carb all the way, soooo nice dirty air was going right in... Yep, never going back to that dealer.... Im still not happy with it at all..... its still loud. Im going to go to another dealer and talk to the ower/ service manager and see if they can give me a contact at kawi..... we will see.

RE: After 45 days.......

I'll be avoiding my dealer for all my service needs. When I picked my bike brand new, the Seat was not even clipped in to the gas tank. The tail light lense was 1/2 outside the seal & there was moisture inside. I went over the bike with a fine tooth comb and all else looks fine. I don't trust anyone but myself to work on anything. Unfortunately you have to have some things done by "Professionals" but I try like heck to do everything myself. Don't think that your dealer tech is good just because he works at a dealer. Unless your mechanic comes highly recommended, you're better off learning how to do it yourself. The joke of it is that They want me to leave them my bike for a few days for the 1st oil change. C'mon man! It's an oil change for goodness sake. No thanks. I can sleep better at night knowing that nothing weird was done to my bike while it was out of my sight.

I hate hearing stories like this, considering I have had nothing but great experiences with my dealer. Sorry Eric.[&:]
