Acerbis Tank install question
 

I'm in the process of fitting an Acerbis tank to my 09. The petcock that comes with the Acerbis tank is really hard to turn from off-on-reserve. I tried slightly loosening the screws near the valve and also working the valve some in the hope of loosening it up but it does not seem to be working. I don't really want to open it up for fear of causing a leak- once I get some fuel run through it do you think it will loosen up??

As it is with this tank the petcock is in a less accessible place than stock and it would not be too cool to have to quickly switch it over from on to reserve in a traffic situation, etc.

If anybody has had some experience with the Acerbis please let me know!

got some gas flowing through it and the petcock has loosened up :D

How was the fit on the '09? I was thinking about getting one for mine but I've heard people have issues with seat fit. Pics please.

I have fitted the tank successfully to mine. I ended up using the stock petcock and it works great. Here is a link to the installation. read the whole thread. It is a bit of work but really worthwhile. If you want to do it and have questions PM me.

Red, I saw that write-up and it was helpful. My Arctic Cat pump is on order. You say you used the stock petcock but it doesn't really show :confused: in the photos how you accomplished that. If you could tell us how you did that I'd appreciate it.

i just deal with it, try to make sure never to hit reserve.

It is made of standard fittings, I ground the one that goes into the tank so it would fit through the hole. I made the aluminium plate and threaded the fitting through it and used gasket maker to seal it to the tank.

Then I ran a fuel line fromt he tank to the pump inlet and then to the stock petcock which I ended up mounting on the outside of the bracket and I think I actually spaced it out with a washer to clear the tank a bit better.
You have to plug one of the outlets of the petcock so there is no reserve but you can see through the tank which in my opinion is better than having a reserve.
