Default 90/90 21 On The KLX250S Front

Has anyone successfully mounted a 90/90-21 front tire? There are a lot of good tires in that size but our front rim is only 3.0. However, the 80/100 that comes stock is 3.15. The 90/90 would be about 3.54. Not sure how much over you can go without running into problems.

I could be wrong, but I think that the 90/90 is just about the same size as the 80/100. I don't think that you would have a problem with it.

The 90 is 10 mm larger (wider) than the 80 and I want to make sure it isn't too wide for the bead to correctly fit the 3.0 inch front rim.

On paper its 10mm wider. Exact tire sizes don't always add up to the size that on the side of it.

I really don't see it as being a problem. From what I remember, there was a guy that went on a couple rides with us and he was running a Pirelli front tire. I think the Pirelli's only come in a 90/90.

I typically run a Pirelli MT16 80/100x21, a good all around tire. I have also used a Pirelli Scorpion Pro 90/90x21 with no problems.

Cool. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure someone else out there has done it and hasn't had a problem with the tire sealing correctly on the rim. It opens up my tire options quite a bit.

The only thing to maybe consider is tire sizes do vary slightly on occasion between manufactures. You should be OK.

Put 1,000 mi on a Kenda K777F 90/90-21 tire and it was fine.

80/100 is 80mm wide by 100% of 80 tall so it's 80mm tall.
90/90 is 90mm wide by 90% of 90 so it's 81mm tall

1mm (0.0394) taller and 10mm (0.3937) wider

I'm running a 90/90/21 front in the Dunlop 606. It went on just fine.
