I don't have a titanium ***. In fact, I have a skinny white guy *** that hurts sitting for any period of time on anything not perfectly compliant. I dealt with monkey butt and swamp ***** with a 10-pound wheelchair cushion with sheepskin that literally saved my ***. You can see the bike, ready to go in Michigan, and me here:

What really saved me was laying my chest on the 'tank bag' to get pressure off my hip bones, then hanging my *** off one side or the other alternately.

Another thing I did was back way off on shock preload to get the rear end to sit down. Part of that was to comp for the big rear tire and part was to comp for the general butt-high posture of this bike. Also, that kicked the rake out about a degree (like the `09), to promote high-speed stability.

Note also my backpack, which ever-so-helpfully became a 'tank bag' because the straps were a perfect fit over the radiator shroud wings. I was able to lay my chest against it.

Another helpful mod was putting on a 15t countershaft sprocket. I got it from Sprocket Specialists, #564-15. It's for a Honda XR600 and is an exact fit. Note what their catalog has for KLX250, a 524 sprocket is wrong for the `06 and `07. The correct sprocket has much finer splines. With the higher gearing, I had my choice of 5th or 6th gears at speed. At 7,000 RPM 5th was 70mph (indicated), and 6th was 80mph. Sixth being nice and high is one thing that forced me to haul ***, to keep from falling off peak power and torque.

Thanks. This is helpful and leads me toward sticking with the stock cams on the first go-around. I could always drop something different in later. I'm not looking for a bunch of raw or abrupt power, just more of the same character of power. When I need a major amount of thrust there's always the trials clutch-dump technique. Wide open the sl i i i p the clutch to full engagement.

From how you said that ride I'd stick with the stock one.

From what i hear, the tm-36 fits the best out of the 3 aftermarket carbs(tm33, tm36, FCR35) I belive that the 36 is also a bolt in affair, where the fcr will need to be prepped with the right in an outlets, as with the tm33.

Bill, the mag is named Backroads. I never had seen it before, but was in a bike shop and saw it sitting there. Decided to pick it up and to my suprise saw a familar face in it. The artical wasn't long, just the pic and the winners names and a little about the comp. If you want PM me your address and I'll clip it out and send it to you.
