Just chill guys, some of us are actually interested in the topic.

As far as I can recall I have only seen 2 sleeves come unstuck, 1 was in an engine that had been cooked and then physically unseized and used again and the other was in a small bike not sure of the details. These days if you deal with a company with a good reputation for building race motor componentry you will be pretty safe. Im pricing a 250 barrel re-sleeve and re-nikasil to go 331.

As far as I know it helps heat disappation, and enables the people doing the bore to get the bore/piston clearance closer. Nikasil also has a lower co-efficient of friction.
So in a nutshell its slipperier and wears less. The rings are a specific type but I dont know why, at a guess because they dont need as much gap

I bought the bigger carb first(tm-36.) It work's okay. I've not drive it much to fine tune. I'd like to buy the sleeve and piston kit only. I've got a location machine shop that does all my work. I'll try Bills link. All others are nikasilk coating them, maybe I should just bit the bullet and call Kraft-crustom. There very friend and help to boot.

I just ordered a Bill Blue 331 kit- the price was right and I'm happy with the steel liner- like everyone else (all other motorcycle brands and car) have. Kawasaki started with that plating back in the 80's and has stuck with it. I think if it was better every one lese would be on it, I think if it was cheaper- everyonel else would be on it- I think it is just differant. but that 340 does sound nice.

Congrat's! Bill does great work. Be sure to post a ride report once you break it in. [8D] I never get tired of hearing first impressions after someone goes toa larger bore.

Everyone else is on it, it has become the standard outside of an american manufacturer starting with Hardley...

that's because they come with cast iron liners from the factory and their failure rate is nearly zero. Some of the older HD's may have leaked oil but they would still run forever with low oil levels. It's nearly impossible to damage an oem HD cylinder. I guess YOU would say they "Hardley" ever fail".
