2022 KLX-230 Odds and Ends
Good morning.
Long time dirt and street motorcycle rider. Mostly a Suzuki guy, but have had my share of Kawasaki's. Most recently, a 2022 KLX-230.
It's a bit of a project bike. Seller lost the key, so I'm dealing with that. Apparently, the key had a number stamped on it that aids in making new keys, but nothing else seems to enable that. It almost seems "easier" to just replace the ignition, fuel cap, and side panel lock. All available online for <$100.
First thing, besides key, is to change the oil. I found the service manual online, and it explains the procedure, but doesn't give the part number for the oil filter. I'm sure the dealer can figure it out, but that's a pretty solid drive to them and they have been less than enthusiastic at the parts counter in previous experiences.
The bike also needs a new muffler. I'd like something OEM-style (and cheap/used), but has to be US Forestry Approved.
Thanks for reading.
