Battery getting killed after a few hours of riding
Hi, I hope I can get some help with my bike. I am new to working on motorbikes but want to learn as much as I can. I am at a loss to what is happening with my KLX 250s (2016). After changing the regulator a couple of times, checking alternator and charging circuit (myself and a local bike mechanic) and having to replace the battery several times I still have the same problem. After riding for a few hours the battery looses its ability to hold a full charge, it drops to 10-11 volts and stays there. With a jump start kit the the bike starts a couple of times but dies after a few minutes riding. Eventually it refuses to start. When back home the battery will not recharge to 14 volts using a motorbike specific charger, it just stays at 10-11volts!
Has anyone had a similar experience, I fear it might be a short but have no idea how to diagnose this or find the short.
