I was going to take my nephew to the annual “ScareScramble” in Airway Heights (Close to Spokane, WA) to watch the motorcycles race. But I got to thinking I might as well race too. I have done this in the past. The first time was in 2005 on my WR426 then again in 2007. I have no idea how I did. I rode it in 2008 on my Can-AM Renegade 800. I got 4th in the Amateur Iron Man class. This year I decided to do the ATV course again since I didn’t feel that my KLX250S would be up to the task. And I am glad I didn’t. I remember when I rode the WR the motorcycles were crazy. Lots of pro’s on full MX bikes. Plus the field was over 100 bikes. Only 20 in the ATV course. The Side by Side guys were fast, there were 6 of those. The rest were full MX ATV’s except for me. The ATV course ran for 2 hours. I managed to do 10 laps and I got 3rd out of 5 in the Amateur Iron Man class. For what I had to ride I think I did quite well for both times I rode the Renegade. I had a blast and so did my nephew helping me when I pitted for water and to clean my goggles.
