Default 2010 klx250sf turned 351 issues!!!!!!!!!

Well here it goes upgraded to bill blues 351 and TM 33 carb.
Right out of the box it ran way to rich (140 main 40 pilot) at 700 ft above sea level...Bike was vary snappy at the start but around 5000 rpm was a piece of crap stumbling all over the place but i crack the thorottle and bang game on happy bike.
So i change the jets to (135 main 35 pilot) i take the bike for a good run problem seems to be almost solved still feeling the stumble at 5000 rpm but way better. After a 1 hr 1/2 ride i shut it down come back 30min later bike wont start plug is fine lots of spark but no bang bang of gas burning. So off comes the carb put back in a (137.5 main 37 pilot) and still nothing but the sound of the starter turning over the engine.
So if any one else out there has any answers to my problems would be great..

Frustrated in canada DAVE

Try the search function.
I would stick the stock carb back on and get the thing running well, then change the carb. It is easier to troubleshoot that way.

This may seem stupid but is the petcock turned on. The vacuum tubes in place, no kinks. Good luck. Ride safe.

put abit of gas in the cly (through spark plug hole) and try to start it if it fires you have a fuel issue (plugged jet). you should shim your stock needle up .15-.30 thous or it will be abit lean in mid range.
hope that helps.

Ya all the simple things are working like, gas in the tank, petcock is open, and it has spark.
Going to try old carb in it to see if the mikuni carb is still dirty or something..

I have the original carb what jets should i run in it?

From what I understand and I may be wrong , as long as it has Good strong spark, it's a gas problem. Jet may be clogged. Hope you figure it out.

For your second question, here's the link. Read post #8

Well it looks like one major problem with my 351 was due to a water leaking into the cylinder head gasket..scored the piston a bit should hone out with some new rings but thinkn on going down to a 330 to get more gasket contact...Maybe less power but less $$$$$$ in the long end of things...

Yikes !!

Is it just a bad head gasket or something wrong with the cylinder liner ?

Did you give that gasket a very careful inspection before installing? Here was my first one...

^^^This is why I'm reluctant to install a 351 kit; having the water jacket port against the metal compression sealing ring is not an ideal design. I wonder what reliability would be like such as in racing when constant wide open throttle is the norm?
