Default 2009 model year changes?

Would you consider a 2007 if the price was right, or is 2009+ the only way to fly? What was changed for 2009?

I just got an 09 yesterday, my understanding is that:
the cam was mildy redesigned,
the gap between 5th and 6th gear was tightened a bit to facilitate off road use,
the brakes became larger 2-piston calipers and larger diameter discs,
body plastic was updated,
suspension lost approx an inch at each end but the valving was reworked to make the overall suspension better,
spokes thickness increased for stronger wheel package,
new stiffer D shaped swingarm for more rigidity,
digital instrument display.....

That is all I can rattle off of the top of my head.

Anyone have anything else?

Any change in fuel capacity or range? How about accessories availability?

Google "2009 KLX250s review" and see the links thrown up.

This article pretty much tells you what has changed between the models: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photo...ki-KLX250S.htm

I got an '06 over the '09+ in Sept. The price was right and some here consider the '06-'07 to be just as good, if not a little better, than the more recent models, esp for off-road use.

And you can get whatever seat, plastics, gas tank, etc you want. The '09 stuff is catching up slowly. It'll just be a matter of time until there's more stuff to be had.

There's other people to buy all my other stuff from. I avoid IMS now because it reminds me of that gas tank run-around.

the gap between 5th and 6th gear was tightened a bit to facilitate off road use,Suffers on road now and loses that "dual sport" overdrive sixth gear. 07 has the edge here.
the brakes became larger 2-piston calipers and larger diameter discs,Cheaper caliper and disc compared to 07. 07 has floating disc and Nissin caliper. 07 has the edge here.
body plastic was updated,
suspension lost approx an inch at each end but the valving was reworked to make the overall suspension better, 09 has 1 inch less front and 2 inch less rear suspension. )07 has the edge here.
spokes thickness increased for stronger wheel package, There is a penalty for the stronger wheels, they're significantly heavier. 07 wheels are strong enough IMHO. Takasago branded on the 07.
new stiffer D shaped swingarm for more rigidity, 09 wins this although it loses points for loss of the snail cam tensioner IMHO.
digital instrument display.....

That is all I can rattle off of the top of my head.

I recon if you're serious about dual sport of getting off the beaten track the either bike will make a fantastic steed, although my biassed opinion says I'd take an 07 over an 09. I own an AUS spec KLX250RH7F.

Thanks for the information guys. I come from sport bikes originally, and then I had a few older, larger dual sports. I am looking to downsize so I am looking at the 250 (and a few other models) for commuting and messing around on dirt roads.
