Default 2009 klx250s engine mod..?possible?

Hello there klx riders

i am looking at the 2009 klx250s. and considering buying it.. i love the looks and the estart!! but i know it is kind of underpowerd and on the heavy side..

does anyone know if it can be moded to a 300 or a 330 like the older 250s? would the same kits work? who makes these kits? what do they cost?

i am trying to see if i can buy one .. take all the smog stuff off.. and shed as much weight as possible...convert to 300/330.. change pipe to Bigdog( or one recommend )... and rejet and mod carb?
any idea if this is doable on the new 250s? ( from what i see in the pecs it seems like the motor and the carb are the same between older and 09 one!)
i presently ride a klx300... and i want to see if the new 250s can be brought close to the 300 .... but then with the added advantage of Estart and street Tag!!!

looking forward to your ideas?
cheers

From what I've seen of the 09 bikes the OE 300 kit we get in AUS will fit. Don't quote me!

LOL LOL.. i even copied all the buttons
Thanx for the welcome.
hope i can find those answers here or there...

I got a te250 a few days ago... rode it all weekend.. and have to say i was nt to impressed yet.. i like my KLX300 better.. specially as an allaround bike.. and love the green look anyway...
the TE is more like an MX bike with lights and signal... it really does very poorly on HWY...and need a ladder to get on it!

i may put it back in the market and sell it if the mods for KLX250s work out and i can get some weight off of it...
i believe it will be a better bike for my type of riding..
Lets see what develpoes

any of u guys know How the power andd handleing of the new KLX250 compares to the KLX300??

cheers

the 300 makes around 4-6 more rwhp than the 250S, closer to 6 I believe. too bad about the TE. I almost bought an '07 TE250 last year this time, but research into the trannies being close and the seat height being ungodly tall for my tallish 5'7" frame steered me to a DRZ400SM. I've got an '09 and love it. It will handle just like a 300 pretty much, the frames are identical. It sits a smidge lower so it may handle better; it has a little different suspension settings too.

underpowered? well, that's all subjective. It all depends on what you're used to. It's not bad (meaning it still has no noticeable power but better than stock)if you install a 13-tooth front sprocket and drill a hole in the first baffle. I think it's a little more responsive than the '06-'07 bike I had when comparing mods for mods. Will it loft the front end? No way, even clutching it won't hold it up there in any gear but first. For major fun, you'll need to open the airbox, rejet, and get some sort of exhaust.
