Without context this doesn't make any sense. What are you doing with your bike that it makes you money?

I've been an electrician for over 40 years, and I use my bike as a "work truck" to carry my tools when I go on local service calls. I did the same thing with my DRZ for 11 years and over 35,000 miles. It also more than paid for itself as a money making tool. And I'm continuing to exactly the same thing with this bike.
It averages 80 miles per gallon so it's really economical. I live in a small rural village in the middle of a canyon where the houses are all scattered around in the hills on steep narrow winding roads. This makes my SM the perfect vehicle to get to my jobs. The weather is good here, so I can ride almost all year round.

I think that's cool, but how does that speak to the KLX platform when you've done the same on a DRZ and could probably do the same on any bike?

In my opinion, the KLX is a way better "work truck" than the DRZ. It's lighter and easier to handle. The DRZ was crude and clumsy compared to the more nimble KLX. There's also no somparison the ill spaced 5 speed DRZ transmission and the close ratio 6 speed KLX gearbox.
