Default 2009 KLX, Burned Pants Leg

very stange. I noticed since all mods done that my lower right pants leg at my ankle is burning. I have tried to figure out why this is happening. It does not seem that my pants are hitting the exhaust; however, it does seem that they are touching the engine cover. is it possible that it is THAT HOT!!.

anyone else have this problem?

It'll be the header. I've seen them run red hot, literally.
Get yourself some real ride pants with the leather on the inside of the right leg.

I have noticed that I have melted the clutch cable outer cover just below where it sits on the housing.
Its like 50mm from the header. Cant feel a thing through my boots and no sign of scorching on them either..
Maybe the muzzy header is a little thin in terms of wall thickness, but hey i wouldnt trade it for a stocker!

i did check around while I was riding to see what was going on. sure enough, my pants leg is touching the header. I checked the temp of the header with a heat sensor, over 340 degrees F. WOW. that is hot ****.
so now what. what kind of mod is out there. Deej, you know something? could you impart your wisdom? thanks in advance

do you still have the smog stuff on your bike? that will make it run hotter.

There is a search feature on this site, although sometimes it can lead you somewhere other than what you are looking for and I'm not sure how far back it goes, 300 max occurrences I think. Anyway try the search when you get a chance, its great when it works. What I did on my bike, was once when I was in the bike shop, I was looking at some of the road bikes, and they had a pegboard down bu them with all kinds of after market stuff on it, and I noticed this shinny heat shield, chrome to be exact. Well I looked at the package and thought "hey that would look cool on the bike. Here is a picture of mine, and the difference was amazing. Before, especially when it was already a hot day out, the heat would boil out and up and also I could feel it on my leg. It was hot to say the least. After installing the heat shield I couldn't feel anything. I'll post this picture of mine, and then I'm going to show an example of the search feature. Good luck man.

Oh I forgot to mention that a few of the guys have installed the stock heat shield using the same type of clamps that came with the one I bought. I think the stock one looks more like it came with the bike, but I really like my chrome shield.
