Default 2009 KLX 250SF Needs a new battery

Hey guys, so my battery has died on my KLX250SF and I was wondering if I should just buy a replacement stock battery or if you guys know of any good aftermarket ones.

Just don't go too cheap on the battery. Some of the bargain batteries don't have the same size plates as the better ones. I tend to stay with Yuasa, but there are other good ones. You DON'T want to order a Kaw supplied battery unless there is some good deal on them. We used to get a good price on Yuasa batteries from Honda when I worked at the bike shop, so we sold those. There wasn't a better price from the aftermarket suppliers, which was kind of surprising.

When you get a new battery be sure to either have it charged by the store where you buy it or do it at home with a trickle charger. Just adding the acid only gives you about 75% charge - good enough to start and run, but not good cranking power. If in doubt trickle charge it. We charged every battery we sold unless asked not to do so. Again, I know, I used to sell and service them at the time of sales. They do need charged up. Motorcycle alternators are not sufficient to do the job like a car/truck can.

Bikemaster gel batteries are good. I'm talking about the blue ones. They are heavy though, so no weight savings over stock.

Wow, I must have got a good one, or maybe its the fact that I have my battery on a maintainer a few days a week. Bought the bike November 05 and its still on the same battery and still cranks just as fast as day one. I did have to buy a new battery for the 1300, $109.00 yikes for a bike battery?
