Default 2009 evap canister thing , smell

When I bought my bike the EPA canister thing was already removed.
( the thing that plugs into the front of the motor , into the air suction valve )

After each ride I get a little smell in the garage for like 15 min then it goes away.
If I air out the bike outside for like 15-30 min I won't have the smell.
Just wondering if the canister being removed is causing it....

If anyone has one ill buy it through pay pal (I know everybody takes their EPA things off) ,
Not sure what the entire system comes with (I think its the canister , a hose to the air suction valve , and another thing that goes into the carb)

I don't think the air injection is your issue. I removed mine and keep the bike in the house. Maybe your float hight is a little high. There is no canister. I do have my injection valve if you would like it. Do you still have the reed valve on the head? If not I got that too.

Here it is. Just need a little vacuum hose to go from the valve to your intake boot. Again don't feel it's the problem but your welcome to it.

Nice, yeah I'm not sure what the smell is ...i've been just trying anything I can.
Either way , my intention for the bike is to make it as stock as possible
...the plan when I bout it was just maintain it, keep all the parts stock and functioning good.

Can I pm about buying it?

Also, isn't there a hose that goes to the carb ?
Or is that the long hose in the picture?
I know the small hose goes to the air suction valve.

I've lost that evap canister long ago.... But no noticeable fuel aroma in my garage afterwards.
You might want to turn off you petcock and run the fuel out of your carb to check ?

Not a problem. Pm me your address. My 2014 I bought new had no canister only air injection. The short hose goes on the front of head. The long hose goes to the air box. Then a small dia. hose goes to the intake manifold. (Not sure what i did with this one but any auto parts store will have it) The last nipple stays open.

tried it that already...
also cleaned the carb. wasnt even dirty.

No leaks on the motor.

might have something to do with the airbox, its most smelly.
(three month ago)Swapped to a uni-filter and it immediately started backfiring + I would get air filter oil coming out of the leak hose.
so I put the old one back in.
two months later I tried the same air filter again really squeezed it , still would backfire
going to buy a kawi brand air filter this time.

Replacing the air filter on mine didn't cause anything to change.

Back firing maybe reduced by increasing the fuel mixture screw. '09 Klx250s carbs have an aluminum plug mandated by the epa so owners can't adjust it. Dynojet kits also include a drill bit and a screw to remove that cover just so owners can adjust it.

Fuel odors in the airbox hmmm bike took a dirt nap recently?

maybe it was the type of air filter ...I know if you use K&N filters without tuning the carb you'll get backfiring, supposedly they let more air in...idk thats what I've read
the air filter I used was a uni filter... wasnt even a circular shape it was more a half square half circle ...it covered the whole backfiring screen so I thought it would be fine... idk maybe thats why

yeah, I've been considering tuning the mixture since I bought the bike but now I'm
just trying to make sure whatever solution (whatever I buy) doesn't end up over richening ... wouldn't want to waste money and time

can you link me some of the plug removal tools?

dirt nap ?... as in dropped the bike into some dirt? lol

not sure they smell explicitly like gas but theres def a partial smell of gas in there.
def not sweet coolant smells and def not motor oil (motor oil looks fine) ... hard to describe the smell just exhaust mixed with gas or something idk
I had a 75 chevy and it SMELLED like gas ...this is a little different , again its hard to describe.

The plug removal tools are included in Dynojet kit 2206 consisting of a 3/16" drill bit and a wood screw that's it. Just to remove the aluminum cover plug hindering the end user from making any adjustments.
Their instructions are pretty good in providing ease of install. You can view the instructions on their website ahead of time to become familiar with your install. I recommend reading before hand. Twice.

Since the emissions stuff was removed the top of your carb has an emissions vent that requires plugging. I purchased from kragen auto parts a Chinese assortment of rubber plugs that were suited for this purpose. Those became cracked n leaked after 18 months approx. so you might want to check. That would lean out your fuel delivery also.
