KBB means nothing. It's just a number. Retail is what someone is willing to buy it off you for. I doubt it very much that anyone is going to pay over $3000 for any used KLX- '07 or '06. There was just an '07 here in central IA that had 198 miles on it that I could've bought for $3200 a couple months back. I decided to wait to see if they were going to update the bike and I am glad I waited. The new one makes the old one look, well, old now. But it still looks good, just a little dated now.
Around here, ya they would. And the Dealers know it. When I was doing my search quest, no dealer could keep any KLX on the showroom floor. And when I did find one used, it had 1,800 miles, came from Gaum, and was already on its second owner. Wanted the Blue Book of $3,600 andhe would not go any lower. But I got him to toss in a helmet, which didn't fit him but fitted me just fine.

I would expect to find an used 06-07 KLX for around $3,200 to $4,000, $4,500+ New (at least till the new model roles out).

the ebay auctions say you're wrong. and in case you didn't know, ebay sets the benchmark for what things sell for.

Problem with Ebay is that it is not local but nation wide or larger. And as much Ebay may set a benchmark, thats only for a short while. When people know they can get more out of the dealer, they will take it. Plan and simple. And its the buyer that must make sure they are not getting ripped off. And with the current trend of gas prices, some motorcycle owner's are trying to cash in. But with winter time here, it may just turn better for the buyer. But when spring time hits, it goes back to the seller.

Its simple economaics. Wheel and deal.
