I thought of possibly trying that... I may have to do that this weekend. Although I went out the other day (it was high 50s, that was a tad cold at speed), and I'm getting used to the sound. I also rode two up with my gal on the back and she didn't seem to think it was too loud unless I was really on the throttle.
