1st ride today--what's wrong?
1st ride today "for the 2012 season" what’s wrong?
NOTHING is wrong!
Over the winter I added these mods:
2006 KLX250 w/450 miles
FMF Q Slip on
K&N air filter and bigger air snorkel
Jet kit—128 jet, drilled out choke, 3rd clip on needle. 2.25 turns out on mixture.
New Plug--I'll check the color after maybe a 100 miles or so.
Stock plug was black meaning rich
Temps here in the 70’s—for NY this is great for March 18th!!!!!!!!
Anyway took a few seconds to start, carb was empty. Bike started up and ran PERFECT!!!!!!!
What’s wrong I mean I do not have to do anything more, no spits, sputs, nada, idles GREAT!
Only thing left is to change to a 13 tooth front sprocket. Slip-on smells a little since it’s new.
I did not get on it yet much, just buzzed around town maybe 35~40 mph speed.
Thanks to all your comments last year when I was asking questions on what and how to step up performance.
ONLY thing is the slip on is just a touch loud but not bad if you do not get on it. I do not want to annoy my neighbors, but it really sounds much better than stock.
I really was expecting more tinkering to get it running right.
Note: I took the carb out last fall, and knew I might not remember how the hoses went, so what I do it take lots of pictures when dissembling my bike, and anything else I take apart. This way I can always relate back to it when needed. Afterall it's free with a digital camera.

Saaaaweeeeeet! I just realized I haven't been on the KLX since August!!! I wonder if having multiple bikes is like being a polygamist...in that you can only ride one at a time and sometimes you neglect the older one...LOL?
Whats wrong with you!!!!!!! ive ridden both bikes all winter....
Digital cameras are great butt-savers sometimes.
EMS, I've been riding all winter too...but...I'll be parked a fair amount of time in the summer here...LOL!
Except for my annual 3-week Colorado trip in August, of course.
