Default 13t noise?

Just changed the countersprocket and went from 0 noise to a noticeable noise, not a grinding or anything like that, but definitely noticeable. I installed a sunstar with the raised part of the sprocket facing the the motor and torqued to 92 lbs, did I miss anything?

yes 13 noisier than stock 14, especially the rubber damped stock 14 (which traps junk behind it and can make the seal leak). When you need a chain you can go bigger on the back and switch back to a 14. 14/45 is about the same. FWIW I swap 14/45 to 13/45 all the time depending on the ride. Works out perfect for me. Just run the CS nut snugged up and partially fold the lock washer for quick changes. Swingarm is marked 5.5 and 7 for the chain adjusters too so I' don't fuss with that each time.

I just put a 15t on my bike and its alot noisier as well. Its more to do with the brand new sprocket not meshing with the slighty worn chain though IMO. the 09+ bikes don't seem to have the rubber damper that the old bikes did.

Hopefully the sprocket will wear in quickly and quiet down as its pretty loud and a bit distracting.

chain sprocket interface makes some sense. with the 15 did you leave the sprocket cover off? that could also make it a bit louder

No everything is back on. Its slowly getting quieter as it wears in, just wish it would go faster since its annoying and embarrasing (even though i don't know if anyone would be able to hear it besides me).

15t implies road riding to me, which means earplugs, so I wouldn't hear it either
