Default 13/47, what chain?

I know most of you are running a 108 link chain with a 45 rear, would 108 link fit with a 47 rear? Would the 47 rear be much bigger then a 45 in which it would need a longer chain?

Oh yeah, how many links is the stock chain?

Thanks

I think the stock chain is 106 links, but I could be wrong.

As for the length required for the 47T sprocket, you could probably get away with the 108, but you won't have as much adjustment as you would probably want. I would go for a 110. If you find that you have to go too far on the snails because it's too long, you can always remove 2 links. I've never done that, but I think several folks here have done it.

That is low gearing but I just put on a 14/49 with a 110 chain adjusters on 3.5 and love it. The black renthal looks awesome and can't believe how light it is compared to the stock 42.

+1 on the 14/49... 3.5 gearing ratio translates into power in tight places... I love my set up... and the fact that the 6th gear keeps me up to speed on the roads (and some fire roads).....

May be a stupid question, but when you install a new o-ring chain...do you have to do any pre-oiling on it or do you spray any special lube afterwards?

Im used to the old mx bikes without o-ring chains.

Just some chain lube or wax. The important stuff is the grease sealed in by the orings. WD40 is not chain lube & can expand the orings letting the grease out.
